Tata Motors Sells 1 Lakh EVs In India; Nexon EV Leads The Sales Charts

Tata Motors India has announced the achievement of an outstanding milestone of 1 Lakh Tata EVs. Over the last three years, Tata Motors has had an extraordinary journey of leading the EV revolution in India. The first 10,000 EV sales took 44 months, the next 40,000 sales took 15 months and the remaining 50,000 sales were achieved in just nine months.Tata Motors currently dominates the Indian EV segment with a market share of over 85 percent. One of the main reasons for this dominance is the success story of the Nexon EV. Since its launch in 2020, the Nexon EV has revolutionised the EV market in India.  The Nexon EV has become India's bestselling EV with over 50k sales mark. Similarly, Tata's latest product, the Tiago EV is one of the most affordable electric cars at present. The Tiago EV has become the bestselling EV in India within a year of its launch, having sold more than 19,000 units since deliveries began in January 2023.Tata EVs have cumulatively covered a distance of 1.4 billion kilometres and the collective efforts of the customers have saved a notable 2,19,432 tons of CO2 emissions. From an economic point of view, Tata EV owners have collectively saved a staggering INR 7 billion on fuel costs during the ownership of their electric vehicles.

Looking beyond, Tata Motors has already declared its 3-phase EV strategy. The company plans to offer different body styles at several accessible price points, meeting the evolving needs of consumers. The company has plans to launch four EVs – Nexon EV facelift, Harrier EV, Punch EV and Curvv EV – within a year.

Since its launch a year ago, the Nexon EV has consistently grown in popularity to become Nepal’s best-selling electric vehicle, commanding a major portion of the market share, with more than 2000 bookings. Tata Motors Nepal currently offers the Nexon EV (Prime, Dark, Max) and Tigor EV in Nepal. The company plans to introduce the Tiago EV at the upcoming NADA Auto Show 2023.
